WASHINGTON - Adam
makes assumptions, creates and conducts experiments, interprets results
and discover new scientific knowledge-all without the help of experts. Adam (Adam) is a robot.
The ´robot
scientist´ is the first machine capable of designing experiments and
analyzing their results without human assistance, said an investigation
will be published Friday.
The robot Adam was created by scientists
at Aberystwyth University in Wales, and the University of Cambridge,
England.
The experts pointed to the magazine Science that Adam
has an artificial intelligence that is capable of acquiring scientific
knowledge without human intervention.
Adam worked in
solitude in the analysis of a yeast that scientists use to model more
complex life forms.
The researchers conducted parallel
experiments to verify the conclusions of the robot.
Adam is a prototype and the team of experts is now
working on another, named Eve (Eva), securing promises to be very
important in finding new drugs to fight malaria for example.
